The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo inside the Dubai Mall is an impressive stop, though it comes with a few caveats. While you can see the massive main tank for free from the mall, buying a ticket gets you into the 48-meter walkthrough tunnel and the Underwater Zoo on the upper level. The tunnel itself is stunning but surprisingly short; you can walk through it in about 10–15 minutes, but the view of the sharks and rays swimming overhead is undeniable.
The real value lies in the Underwater Zoo upstairs. It is split into three zones: Rainforest, Rocky Shore, and Living Ocean. The highlight here is undoubtedly "King Croc," a massive saltwater crocodile that is genuinely awe-inspiring. The presentation and enclosure for him are top-notch. The penguin encounter is cute if you have kids, though the area can feel a bit small.
I recommend the "Explorer" ticket if you want a bit more than just the basics, but skip the glass-bottom boat ride unless you have time to kill—it’s a very short loop and doesn't offer a drastically different view than the tunnel.
Crowds can be overwhelming, especially on weekends. Go early on a weekday morning to actually enjoy the exhibits without being jostled. Overall, it’s a bit pricey for the duration (expect to spend about 60–90 minutes total), but it’s a solid, well-maintained attraction that offers a nice break from shopping.

We had a fantastic time at the Dubai Aquarium. The kids absolutely loved it and were excited the entire visit. The Gold Ticket was totally worth it — it lets you enjoy the full experience without feeling rushed and gives access to all the best attractions. The glass boat ride was especially cool and a highlight for all of us. Everything was well organized and very family-friendly. Highly recommend this if you’re visiting Dubai with children!

Visiting the Dubai Aquarium was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of my trip. The massive glass tunnel gives you a 360-degree view of marine life, making you feel completely immersed in the underwater world. Seeing sharks, rays, and colorful fish swimming just inches away was absolutely mesmerizing.
